28th and 29th May 2024 in Nantes

World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5, established in 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly with the aim of raising global public awareness of the importance of environmental protection. This anniversary represents a fundamental moment to reflect on the role that each of us – individuals, businesses, institutions – can and must assume to protect the Planet.

World Environment Day is a call to action and responsibility. It promotes a culture of environmental sustainability, encouraging conscious behavior and choices that are more attentive to the well-being of people and the health of the global ecosystem.

The 2025 theme: Plastic pollution

This year’s theme is plastic pollution, a material that, although it has revolutionized numerous sectors thanks to its lightness, resistance and versatility, today represents one of the main threats to the environment. Plastic does not degrade naturally: it remains in the environment for decades, sometimes for centuries, accumulating in seas, rivers, soil and even in our bodies.

Over the past thirty years, global plastic consumption has quadrupled, driven mainly by the growth of emerging markets. This alarming data makes it clear that intervening on the production, consumption and recycling of plastic is no longer an option, but an urgent necessity.

This year’s campaign draws inspiration from nature, presenting concrete and innovative solutions. The goal is to promote systemic change: governments, industries, communities and citizens are called to collaborate to adopt sustainable practices and reduce environmental impact.

Towards a global treaty on plastics

Environment Day 2025 is celebrated two months after the resumption of international negotiations for the approval of a global treaty against plastic pollution. It is essential that countries work together to establish common rules on product design, the use of chemicals and recycling, so as to promote a truly effective circular economy.

Woodtech Italia’s commitment

Woodtech Italia, which has always been committed to promoting renewable energy and protecting the environment, firmly supports this important day. We believe it is essential to spread greater awareness about the responsible use of natural resources.

Recycling materials and respecting the environment are not just symbolic gestures, but concrete actions that build a healthier and more sustainable future for everyone. Only through a collective commitment can we generate a virtuous circle capable of preserving our Planet and improving the quality of life of present and future generations.
